5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and Efficient
I can’t believe this is even true. This is a refurbished “as new” Amazon computer - I bought it because I had nothing to lose! It cost less than two tankfulls of gasoline. It starts up in just a few seconds and does everything I need it to do. Absolutely the best thing I’ve bought at Amazon this year. Windows 10 (or is it 11) is a little quirky, it took me forever to find my Word program. Also, Yahoo mail doesn’t have a trash folder. I’m sure it has one somewhere, it’s just on the left with sent messages, etc. There are some other minor changes I’m getting used to, but that’s a Microsoft issue, not the computer. I really had no other option than to give it 5 stars for gaming and tech support - I haven’t used either one.5.0 out of 5 stars Arrived in "Like New" condition
While not all reviews had the same experience I did, the keyboard, mouse, and computer looked brand new. I popped the cover off the computer and it was pristine inside. The only thing that was wrong was that one of the two posts to secure the monitor cable to the jack was missing. I just took one off the old computer. The computer booted up and configured fine. I ran Dell's SupportAssist software and there were three updates needed, two critical security updates and one recommended video update. All installed fine. Dell also says the unit went out of warranty in August 2020, for whatever that's worth.
When I ran the Dell Hardware Test it said all was well but the hard drive gave a WARNING icon. Yet the details of the test said the hard drive was fine. I dunno...
EDIT: Now that I've used it several days I did find one other problem. There are four USB ports on the rear and four USB ports on the front. One port on the rear does not work. Anything plugged into it gives constant "device malfunctioned" error dialog boxes. I disabled and re-enabled the port in the BIOS to no avail. Device Manager shows no errors. The computer this Optiplex replaced only had four USB ports and I still have three unused USB ports so this is not a problem for me.
And I even got a bonus! WindowsUpdate said this hardware CANNOT be upgraded to Windows 11! :)
The I5-6500 CPU and the TPM v1.2 are not acceptable for Windows 11 and I'm good with that.
Bottom line: This was a great deal for me.5.0 out of 5 star 6 month later it is still working
I really can't complain about this used small-form PC, so impressively cheap and powerful compared to my previous box. When it arrived it looked like new. Powering on it is immediately working without any glitches. Now 6 month later it is still happily working. My usage pattern is not heavy - no gaming no working, just web surfing, online shopping and emails so it is perfectly suited me.
