First 27” is to me just right for me as an experienced graphic designer/illustrator and occasionally animator and videographer. The 5K really packs the viewport of what might expect in a 34” 4k. 5K BTW is like looking out a window. You simply don’t see pixels.
The set-up is virtually foolproof. This monitor comes affixed to the stand. You put in the power cord and in my case a cord from any of my USB 3C ports into the Thunderbolt port on the monitor, hit the power button. A quick setting of the monitor arrangement on the Mac and off you go.
What was my need for this monitor. Primarily being able to read tool bars and menus in a wide variety of creative apps I use. If I were simply doing word processing or even spreadsheets I doubt I would need this kind of visual horsepower that the 5k provides.
